Jays of Sunshine is a charity foundation that helps make dreams and wishes come true for children and young people battling cancer. We do our best to be a ray of sunshine on a cloudy day for all these children and their families.

Making dreams come true

We make dreams come true by gathering wish lists directly from the patients undergoing treatment and fulfilling them. These heartwarming requests often include meeting a hero, embarking on special adventures, or experiencing cherished moments.

The generous donations we gather play a vital role in making these wishes a reality, ensuring that every child in the Rainbow Ward has the opportunity to experience a ray of sunshine during their cloudy days.

Events

In addition to fulfilling wish lists, Jays of Sunshine brightens the lives of children and young people in the Rainbow Ward by hosting special events.

These events offer a welcome break from the challenges of cancer treatment, providing moments of joy, laughter, and memorable experiences. Whether it’s a themed party, or a creative workshop, these events offer a unique opportunity for patients, both those currently undergoing treatment and those who have faced the battle in the past, as well as their families, to enjoy something different and fun.

Your support allows us to create cherished memories and offer a respite from the usual routines of hospital life, giving these young heroes the chance to embrace the sunshine amidst their cloudy days.

Who we are

Our names are Maxine Attard and Angie Amato, and we are the Jays of Sunshine.

After both losing our beloved mums Jackie and Josette to cancer, we wanted to give something back, and bring a ray of sunshine to other people going through a very cloudy time.

Named after both our mummies, Jays of Sunshine helps dreams come true for children and young people undergoing treatment in the Rainbow Ward of Malta’s Mater Dei Hospital.

We also pride ourselves in hosting events and parties for the children and their families.
